1. In literal terms, a group of mentally handicapped people in a room or area.
2. In figurative terms, a gathering of a bunch of fucking morons to talk about their idiotic ideals.

black t-shirt convention 

A concert, house show, party, or similar occasion when a group of "scenesters" can be found trying to outcool each other. Often the attire of those at these functions includes a black t-shirt, which may have a band logo, skull, or something else retarded printed on it.

Smoking Convention

When a bunch of amsa students get together at the Upper / Lower school cafeterias or ForeKicks (you know, the soccer facility) to talk about cool stuff like plagiarism, screen time, or ACTing.

When you can't be bothered to name your variable meaningfully so you u use the first thing that comes to your mind. Usually diminutive. This convention is not yet widely acknowledged
