IFA Wartburg

A Swedish satirical band, formed in the 1980s and releasing their debut album "Im Dienste des Sozialismus" in 1998, disbanding the following year.

The band mocks the tone of propagandistic media created by the German Democratic Republic and the USSR, with overdramatic and hyper-enthusiastic lyrics about the greatness of socialism.

Despite their songs being intended as jokes, IFA Wartburg's audience has grown significantly since their music was uploaded onto YouTube, and many modern day communists, socialists and GDR nostalgics enjoy their music.

Person 1: "IFA Wartburg is the best band to ever exist!" Person 2: "You know their songs are satire, right?" Person 1: "I do not care."
