nuke the fridge

Nuke the fridge is a colloquialism used to refer to the moment in a film series that is so incredible that it lessens the excitement of subsequent scenes that rely on more understated action or suspense, and it becomes apparent that a certain installment is not as good as a previous installments, due to ridiculous or low quality storylines, events or characters.

The term comes from the film Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, in which, near the start of the movie, Harrison Ford's character survives a nuclear detonation by climbing into a kitchen fridge, which is then blown hundreds of feet through the sky whilst the town disintegrates. He then emerges from the fridge with no apparent injury. Later in the movie, the audience is expected to fear for his safety in a normal fistfight.

Fans of the Indiana Jones series found the absurdity of this event in the film to be the best example of the lower quality of this installment in the series, and thus coined the phrase, "nuke the fridge".

The phrase is also a reference to the phrase "jump the shark", which has the same meaning, only applied to a television series instead of a film series.

This phrase is not in common use.

guy best friend

someone who cares and loves you from the bottom of their heart, but would be weird to say since you're just friends. eventually, like me, you'll have feelings for him, but keep him while you have him. he knows all the tea and you love texting him. he gets 'night- high' with you and have deep conversations together. he says the sweetest things and sometimes gives the best advice like "don't ever say he is too good for you." i haven't got there yet, but snuggling in with him with a movie has to be the BEST. someone you wish you could kiss sometimes but always have to stop yourself to remind yourself that you're only friends. also, he could be your crush's close friend. sometimes he can be annoying as hecc, but in an admirable way. i personally am so afraid to lose him cuz he means so so much to me. -charis

Friars Boy

Colloquially known as the 'Friars boy', typically an attendee or ex-attendee of public Carlisle school Austin Friars.

Appearance-
Thick, ruffled, usually dark hair.
Pouty "interesting and moody" facial expression (permanently adhered).
Varies between technically-fit taut body and gym obsessive.
Ironic and very clever t-shirts.
Favours company of the 'younger lady'. For further reference, see tag below of 'UJ'.

Vocabulary-
Arguably most distinctive feature. Words and phrases such as "safe" "huge" "mong" "beast" "ripped" "destroy" (when referring to intercourse) "radge" "absolute babe" "pussy" and "sweet", as well as profanities, are used repetitively in same sentence in a kind of bark/shout.
Call eachother by initials. Gets confusing.

Daring each other to kiss girls
The famous "pk"or parkour
Bragging (lots of)

Despite these examples of behaviour, still manage to somehow be endearing (sometimes) and occasional good company.
