To collect one's thoughts means to take time for his/herself after a particularly disturbing event, and to get his/her mind back in order.

Person1: Hey, what's up?

Person2: Becky and I just broke up last night.

Person1: Oh that sucks, how've you been handling it?

Person2: I dunno man, but I feel like complete shit.

Person1: I'm sorry, how about I leave you alone and give you time to collect your thoughts?

Person2: Good idea. I'll explain things later then.

thoughtskies

A deeply involved train of thought, similar to a day dream, but the thinker is still able to interact with his/her surroundings. Often happens when performing monotonous tasks and are more likely to happen while you are alone or sitting in silence with others. Unlike day dreams or reveries, these thoughts are involved in present issues and not of musings or wish fulfillment.
Often involves existential thoughts and moral or ethical dilemmas.
State of mind that is most inventive and creative.

While I was mowing the lawn I found myself slipping into deep thoughtskies.

When Jill was talking about her wedding plans my mind wandered to a tangent of thoughtskies.

My thoughtskies will change the world.

Thought Tivo

When a person forgets something they were thinking about (usually a recent thought) and then is able to remember it again by rewinding back through your thoughts to recall the original thought.

"Dude... what was i thinkin about dude, i wanted to say something..."

"Uhhh... dude?"

"Whoa man! i remembered what it was dude, i Thought Tivo'd that!.. I wanted to tell you i think your sister is hot"
