Electronic Depression

When a person has no life, and sits on the computer for hours or hours at a time. They usually think about all the negative things in life. Suicide is thought of. They usually have waves of these feelings. Maybe for days at a time, or hours. And when one wave ends, they happily sit down at the computer and begin to get depressed again. Usually doesn't have a lot of friends, because they always talk about negative things.

REMEDIES: To get out of the house, work out, go to a baseball game, walk around town, go out in the country and get dirty, totally own someone, read the bible.
Dude, Blane had bad electronic depression. So his computer finally crashed from all the messaging he'd been doing, so he finally decided to go outside and find something else to do, now he loves baseball!

Positive Election Disease

A disease that affects a person's ability to reason. People with this condition suffer from irrational delusions that a candidate in an upcoming election will "change everything", "keep their promises" and/or "get things done". Other symptoms include, but are not limited to: believing politics is interesting, putting an election bumper sticker on your otherwise valuable automobile, passing out leaflets and yard signs, and actually reading propaganda mail. Outbreaks generally occur in a 4 year pattern coinciding with presidential elections, although extreme cases will lead the victim to feel this way toward all elections down to county level, especially in die-hard partisans. It will affect Democrats and Republicans differently depending on the candidates and election conditions. Positive Election Disease (PED) gained unprecedented media coverage during Barack Obama's 2008 Presidential campaign, marking the worst recorded epidemic of PED in America.

Facts about PED:

PED feeds on bipartisanship.

Lobbyists are naturally resistant to PED.

PED may affect up to 95 percent of partisans during election time, but affects less than a third of all Independents.

Douchebags are 10 times more likely to get PED.

Network news makes it worse.

PED can cause rioting, especially in developing African countries.

PED does affect politicians, but such cases are quickly cured by lobbyists.

During off-years PED survives in San Fransisco.
douchebag: "Barack Obama will bring change to America! He's going to fix the economy and fix healthcare the right way and he's going to get Democrats and Republicans to work together."

registered independent: "Man, you got Positive Election Disease really bad."

battered electorate syndrome

A population of voting citizens of a country, state, etc. who consistently vote for candidates whose goals are counter to their own economic, social, health, and educational needs. They can see that these candidates abuse them, but they rationalize it away, blame others for their predicament, & remain crawling loyal to them none the less.
For example, a battered electorate syndrome is exhibited by American white blue collar workers who vote for GOP candidates, completely violating their own economic interests. Even worse, after the GOP candidates woo them through the election, the minute the election is over the GOP is back in bed with the mega-wealthy making promises & coming through on them. The GOP knows they can sweet-talk their electorate into accepting that they must sleep with these billionaires to bring the gifts of trickle down economics to their electorate. Meanwhile the billionnaires are importing their new yachts & firing more employees in their most recent company efficiency overhaul, and of course sending more jobs overseas.
