A phrase used to describe the action of someone who is trying to change someone's perspective for the better, but they will not listen.

I told her not to go back to him, and he cheated on her anyway. Giving her advice is like trying to help the blind see.

Confirmation Bias Blind Spot

The cognitive inability to recognize one's own confirmation bias while easily detecting it in others. This is the meta-bias that makes confirmation bias so resistant to correction. You can see how your political opponent selectively reads news; you cannot see how you do the same. The blind spot is structural: self-awareness requires a neutral vantage point, but there is no such vantage point. You cannot step outside your own confirmation processes because those processes are what constitute your reasoning.

Confirmation Bias Blind Spot Example: "I read diverse sources and follow the evidence wherever it leads. My opponent, however, lives in an echo chamber." This statement, sincerely believed, is the Confirmation Bias Blind Spot speaking. The speaker cannot perceive the filters they apply—the choice of which "diverse sources" to trust, which "evidence" to weight heavily, which conclusions "logically follow." Their bias is not in their data; it's in their algorithm for processing data. And algorithms cannot see themselves.

Also can be used as a derogative term for any random college nobody knows.

Shortened form of the college is “SEASTCB&D” (Pronounced: “CEASED-kuh-band”) if you’re too lazy to say 17 syllables.

Mike: “We’ll need Alabama to lose a game soon if we’re gonna have any shot at winning the division. Who are they playing against this weekend?”

Jeff: *google search* … “Something called Southeastern Alaska State Technical College of the Blind and Deaf”.

Mike: “What’s the point spread? 222.5?”

Jeff: “Maybe if Bama puts in the waterboys, but I guess I’ll be rooting for the… *checks phone*… Abominable Snowmen… out of mere desperation.”

Mike: “Looks like we’re on the SEASTCB&D-wagon this Saturday at noon!”

Jeff: “This will totally be worth three hours of my weekend!”

Cringe blindness 

Cringe blindness occurs when someone is unaware of either the cringey behavior around them or their own cringey behavior. Cringe blindness leads to a lack of any self-awareness or ability to notice social cues. Finally, an individual suffering from cringe blindness will be unaware of their suffering or the suffering of those around them.

Vincent was dancing around the graduation with a towel on his head and kept groping men's shoulders when taking group photos. It was clear to those around that he was suffering from cringe blindness.
