cheerleader

A cheerleader can be male or female. He or She is required to have the ability to do gymnastics, jumps, motions and various other things. He/She must be flexible and have a final grade of A at the minimum, and he/she must have nearly perfect attendance. Cheerleading is easily one of the most dangerous sports in the world.

There are several different types of cheerleading squads:
Large Coed (a team of at least 17 male and female athletes highschool).
Small Coed (a team of less than 17 male and female athletes highschool).
Large Varsity (a team of at least 17 female athletes highschool).
Small Varsity ( a team of less than 17 female athletes highschool).
University (a team with athlete's over the age of 18 university/college).
All-Star (a team of athletes of any age.. there are usually less stunting restrictions on a team in this category elementary/ jr.high/ highschool/ university/ college).
Pom (a team of male and female athletes with the ability to dance and jump. A pom team will include pom-poms. jr.high/highschool).

To be a cheerleader you must have a large amount of self-respect and pride, otherwise you will most likely be booted off your squad. All the other steriotypical definitions of cheerleaders are without a doubt 100% untrue. I would know..I am on one of the best teams in North America.
Cheerleader's Requirements:
Tumbling Requirement Example (depending on what teams you try out for): round-off back-handspring back-tuck
round-off back-handspring full-twistinglayout

Jump Requirement Example: Toe-Touch with legs 180 degrees

Stunting Requirement Example: Toss-Hands touch-and-go (to extention) bow-and-arrow double down

cheerleader

Cheerleading is a gymnastic sport, the players consisting mainly of females of all different beliefs, personalities and backgrounds. Cheerleading has the unfortunate weight of male supression upon it, discouraging female diversity and cooperation. Overall, cheerleading encourages teamwork, health, fitness, and good grades.
Quote from definition #17: "Is it just me, or are cheerleaders getting uglier every year at this school?"

My reply: It's just you.

cheerleader

1. someone who has put their energy and spirit into cheers not to mention hard work and practice.
2. so you know one cheerleader and you think you know us all? that makes you ignorant. But it's ok I can't hear you over Metallica. Maybe you can try to increase your vocabulary to words that have more than four letters instead of throwing around the same immature things: slut, fuck, etc.
some people act bitchy, some act slutty, people aren't all nice and perfect, get over it instead of trying to blame it on the fact that they wear a uniform.

cheerleader

an athelete who participates in the sport of cheerleading.most are not sluts or preppy.and if they are, it has nothing to do with being a cheerleader. there are two types of cheerleaders:
Type 1-
a school cheerleader. stands on the sidelines, cheers for her team, performs during time-outs, and usually does stunts, but not very hard stunts. but not nescisarily stupid. at my school, all your grades have to be at least a B average.
Type 2-
An all-star cheerleader. Is on a team at a cheer gym, and does NOT have any sports teams attatched. they have a two and a half minute long routine, with tumbling, jumps, dancing, and STUNTS! all-star cheerleading requires extreme athletic ability. everyone on my team has to be able to do 100 push-ups non-stop. and were all under 11 years old. my team is stronger than the boy's gymnastics team at our gym. these kind of cheerleaders go to competitions. they train all year long for these competitions. at my gym, tryouts for the next season are the day we get back from our last competition. go on youtube and search "pro x cheerleading" and look at some real cheerleaders.

standing on the sidelines may not be a sport, but competitive cheerleading sure is.

and by the way, i am an all-star and school cheerleader. i only do school cheerleading so i can have more cheerleading in my life.
type one cheerleader-ohmygosh! did you see what jenny just did? she like totally like missed that last move! oohh! hi greg! call me! lets go team! lets go team! WOOOOO!! *jump*

type two cheerleader-im so scared about usasf nationals. at practice the other day my stunt group couldnt hit our sequence. its- front handspring load in, squish, tap, full up to full cupie, chinstrap, scorpian, triple down, reload, full heel stretch, bow-n-arrow. but i stuck my double yesterday. conditioning was a little easier yesterday. we only did 150 sit ups instead of 200. and we only did our routine 20 times. i think stacey was feeling generous or something.

Now, we have to look at the different breeds and requirements of a cheerleader. You have three main kinds:

School Cheerleader- does not require vast assortment of physical skills or talent. Mainly involves standing on sidelines hoping not to get hit by a ball, clapping, and singing along to the school song. Occasionally, simple stunts are attempted. Lowest out of all cheerleader ranks. Stereotypically stupid, skanky, and a bitch.

Rec-League Cheerleader- cheers for a community recreating league. requires more skill in dance and tumbling.

All-Star- top of the food chain, good teams require physical fitness, coordination, balance, teamwork, good grades, gymnastic abilitiy, flexibility, endurance, showmanship. Can involve innovative and/or dangerous stunts, dance routines, themed routines, etc. and can go up to competitive national levels.
Standing on the sidelines might not be a sport, but some professional cheerleaders are fantastic athletes.

cheerleader

A cheerleader is a strong smart athlete with tons of confidence. Cheerleaders are often portrayed as sluts, hoes, dumbasses, girly girlies and wimps. That's not it at all. People who hate cheerleaders hate them because they are jealous and wish they could do half of what we can do.
I myself am a cheerleader and i constantly get discriminated against. I sucks. But if you hate on me get over it, because I bet you can't do HALF of what I can. Cheerleading is a sport. plain and simple.

cheerleader

A cheerleader is normally thought of as a blond bimbo with giant boobs. That's not true. I'm a cheerleader and I'm in all honors classes and getting straight As. Cheerleading is a sport that requires you to work hard. I do a hundred sit ups and pushups a day and I'm a flyer. Cheerleading is also about trust. I have to trust people I just met to throw me up in the air and then catch me. In two weeks I hyper extended both of my knees because of cheerleading. We have to jump, dance, yell, and lift people up in the air. Cheerleaders have to have strength, balance, and flexibility. Everyone thinks cheerleaders are popular but in my school we are made fun of. I also personally believe in no sex till marriage so not all cheerleaders are sluts. Cheerleading is hard and I would love to see anyone who has never cheered try and do what we do. It is not easy.
Cheerleaders work really hard to get what they want.
