ADHD

It seems to be over diagnosed and self diagnosed lot. It's a lot more than just being hyperative or inattentive. While that is part of it, there's also other symptoms like executive dysfunction, auditory processing disorder, sensory processing disorder, rejection sensitive dysphoria, sleep problem, impulsivity, etc. I, a person who has adhd, deals with all of this. I am also unmedicated. you're more susceptible to depression and anxiety as you grow up being different or just being told you're lazy and you're a waste of space. i don't know a lot of the science behind this, but like i really don't care, these are my experiences. my brother has adhd too, him and i grew up with hypocritical parents that were emotionally abusive. well have a nice day <3

ADHD

A gift, not a curse. Most people with ADHD believe that they need to take adderall/vyvanse/ritalin etc. to be "normal". People with ADHD are usually more creative, exciting, fun to be around, wise (but usually impulsive), original, and see the world in a different way than most people. It is normally a nightmare to parents, but a wonderful thing to kids/teens that can appreciate it and not only focus on the fact that school is more difficult with it.

Source: Someone diagnosed with ADHD and who is often around many other people diagnosed with ADHD as well.
Person 1: Man I hate having ADHD. School is so hard and i cant remember shit. Good thing ive got adderall to make me normal.

Person 2: Instead of whining about how your ADHD makes life so hard, how about enjoying it and making the most of it.

adhd frenzy

The act of an individual ranting from one topic to another without pause. The topics are loosely threaded together and it is by far easier for the observer to simply let the person finish than try to interrupt/add/interject/and -or ask questions.
Dude, I can't believe my girlfriend got all raggitha on me, blah, blah, blah and on the news tonight the political candidate went on about his liberal/progressive views and I am going to start a compound because the breakdown of the moral fiber in this country is beyond reasonable or actually beyond comprehension....(all without pause or taking a breath)

Response: Dude, you were just in the midst of an ADHD frenzy.

ADD/ADHD

Attention Deficit Disorder/Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

A real medical diagnosis found in the DSM along with the criteria for diagnosis, and treatment.

There are many different symptoms, shown in many different ways, but everyone whom actually has the disorder suffer from a chemical imbalance within the brain.

Opinions as to ADD/ADHD's existence is silly at best. People smarter than us, whose jobs it is to decide these things, have. So, everyone whom states the "fakeness" of the disorder is quite confidently shouting their ignorance.

ADD/ADHD has been around a lot longer than most think-the 1980's was NOT the discovery. Years and years ago, it actually underwent a name change; and I'll warrant that few people who scream "ADD is fake" would have trouble screaming "Brain Damage is fake!" Yep. ADD/ADHD used to be the diagnosed medical condition, Minimal Brain Dysfunction/Damage. Pretty sure that exists too.

Now, the extremely excessive diagnosing of ADD/ADHD is irresponsible and reprehensible and certainly doesn't positively impress the ignorant public. (and before there are more screams, there is absolutely no negative connotation to the word 'ignorant'...it simply means "unaware of" or "lacking knowledge".
Yes, you forgot things sometimes and procrastinate. But for someone with ADD/ADHD, unlike you, there is no choice being made. It simply happens despite best efforts.
