Someone with no moods or feelings, someone desperate not to be seen as soft-hearted/soft because that is exactly who they are deep down, and people that have known them their entire life know it even if most people including them don't.
The bubbly girl was a machine, and therefore only had a positive state of mind, a stupor to wander around in. Teasing and ridiculing anyone and anything for no good reason, acting tough all the time, and blurting out a bunch of bullshit took the place of feeling anything negative about anything or anyone, including her emotionally repressed, grown, and badass self (since it was everyone else that was an unfair hypocritical child at play in her mind).
