Plainview Moment

A "Plainview moment" is an acute and fleeting sensation of estrangement from one's community characterized by feelings of alienation and contempt for all people. Typically this phenomenon is triggered by profound disappointment with unmet expectations. An individual experiencing a Plainview moment may appear inexplicably frustrated or enraged. The Plainview moment is temporary, lasting as briefly as a few minutes or until the source of the frustration has been removed, but the intensity of the emotions experienced during these episodes can make stricken individuals extremely unpleasant or even dangerous to be around.

Named for Daniel Plainview, the fictional self-made oil tycoon and misanthropic main character played by Daniel Day-Lewis in "There Will Be Blood."

"I experienced a Plainview moment today when I went to the hardware store to purchase some lumber, and after one incompetent employee erroneously claimed they didn't carry the materials I needed, a second incompetent employee sent me to the wrong part of the warehouse to pick the materials up."

plain-as-day

A phrase that indicates something so obvious that even the thickest, most oblivious person should see it. Usually, but not always, meant in a slightly insulting or derogatory manner; Origins are unknown but possibly derived from Irish. Use of it seems to have started on the east coast but is also found throughout the country, mostly in rural communities. Similar to: "as plain as the nose on your face".

"Those kids died? Well it's a shame but it's plain-as-day they shouldn't have been playing at the top of the cliffs."
"Did I see the latest Darwin Award? Well it's plan-as-day that you shouldn't strap a rocket engine to the roof of your car."
"How do you get downtown? See that water tower, head for that and you'll find downtown, plain-as-day, just to the right."

Platinum Games

Platinum Games Inc., formerly known as Seeds Inc., is an independent developer set in Japan. It was formed by Shinji Mikami, Atsushi Inaba and Hideki Kamiya of Clover Studios (known for Okami, Viewtiful Joe and Devil May Cry), which was closed by Capcom in October 2006. It has then proceeded to make games published by SEGA, including MadWorld, Infinite Space, Vanquish and Bayonetta, and two games published by Nintendo, The Wonderful 101 and Bayonetta 2. Key people currently include President Tatsuya Minami, Producer Inaba and Director Kamiya, as Mikami left to form his own studio after directing Vanquish, Tango Gameworks. Their games are usually very well-received, but very challenging.
