Birth Giver

A pejorative directed at a parent or parents that one has an estranged relationship with. It was popularized by the South Park episode "The Wacky Molestation Adventure".

My birth giver called to bitch at me last night, I just hung up on her.

give hell

To really whoop someone or give them trouble. To attack. If you really bust someone up and thoroughly kick their tailfeathers, you will have given them hell.

Since hell is a bad place full of suffering, to give someone hell is to create your own little part of it just for them.

It can also be a term for teasing or general razzing, ("he was really giving you hell at the party, wasn't he?") as well as winning in an athletic event. "We really gave that team hell."

If you are fighting a ferocious enemy, and want to charge up your troops, a good thing to shout would be "Give 'em hell!"

Opposite to giving up, meaning Not to give up.

Brad: Jill, I give down on you.
Jill: You mean you give up on me?
Brad: No, I'm NOT giving up on you. That's what giving down means...

Give 'em the stick

Phrase used to lull a person into a false sense of attaining a desired thing and then having it taken away before the person takes possession.

*A kid is laying flat on broken ice and his comrades are looking for a way to help him. A grizzly old man, whose land the children are trespassing on pipes in with his advice:

"Alright, give 'em the stick."

Kids lean out to extend the stick to the wayward lad.

"DON'T GIVE 'EM THE STICK!!!"

The kid drowns.

someone who gives away the ball in the dying moments of a game.

After catching the getting the ball on defence I attempted to lob an inside pass, I missed judged the distance of my pass and instead threw a Billy give-us-a-try Slater as the ball was intercepted and the mighty Kiwis scored an easy try in the corner to win the game.
