Guys love to hate Edward Cullen because he "sets standards to high" and apparently he's not "a real man". Not every Twilight fan loves Edward because he is "inhumanly beautiful" or because he sparkles. There are some who liked Edward because of he way he loves Bella in the novels, because his character is selfless, a gentleman and most of all because he only had eyes for Bella. If those standards are too high for guys than they do not seem like the kind of guys to care what girls want. Believe it or not women expected these things from a man before Twilight.Girls love to hate Bella because it depicts a character who doesn't read "Seventeen Magazine" or doesn't give half a shit about trivial things such as fashion or does not aspire to look like Meagan Fox or Katy Perry, and of course that must mean that Bella is boring.
