electro

Electro is similar to techno and trance, but less euphoric and more...funky.
Significant instruments are keyboards and synths, usually has lyrics. Often has an infectious bassline.
It kind of bridges the gap between trance and rock.

Some bands with an electro kinda sound:
Hot Chip, Justice Vs Simian, LCD Soundsystem, The Klaxons, Shiny Toy Guns, etc.

Electro-Punk

One who is influenced by techno/mod culture, and mixes their own funky style with that of the punk scene. In dress they are their own, and tend to have a unique, off-beat personality. They are probably counter-culture and an intellectual. Quite eccentric. Scientific/long name for them is "orthodox electro-punk misfit" or "orthodox electro-punk nerd".

"Wow, that new girl's so weird. She likes to wear eighties dresses and mosh to Madonna, what's her problem?"
"Oh, she's just one of those electro-punk kids. They like to call themselves 'orthodox electro-punk misfits' though."

electrocore

electrocore(eXc) is a cross between electronica and hardcore music. Electrocore is often used as a label, it is tougher than scene but not as tough as real hardcore and is thus somewhat of a cross between the two. The electrocore label is heavily influenced by the genres of music that "electros"(what electrocore "kiddz" are called) listen to. This is a range of heavy metal to techno. Most electros are straightedge, strong willed, untrusting, and apathetic as to what others think. Electros are constantly confused with punks, goths, emos, scensters, and hardcore kids, however, which label they are confused with depends on each individual electros style. The true birth of electrocore is somewhere in the south, either Florida, Georgia, Alabama, or Texas and there are very few true electros.

Electromyography

An EMG- a procedure to assess the health of muscles and the nerve cells that control them
Also known as the most painful procedure known to man, where student nurses stick you with needles then proceed to pulse electricity down through the needles to see how your muscles react to the 'stimulation'. Often this causes extreme pain, as it aims to target nerves and the way they control the muscles.

Person 1: Shit dude that's gotta hurt like a b*tch
Person 2: Hurts like f*uck but its nothing on an Electromyography
Person 1: The f*ck is that?
Person 2: An EMG, the Satan's own invention sent to the medical industry.

electro vudu

colloquialism used to describe the ability some people possess to make technology work above and beyond it's standard functionality. This ability is often unfathomable to others, and often seen as some sort of 'dark art'. Hence, the term 'electro vudu' was coined.

"Ask Bill to take a look at your computer. That boy's got some crazy 'electro vudu' going on."
