Alexis was originally a baby boy/male name which has become very popular as a girls name. However, it’s wrong to make fun of people with names that originally were boy names such as Ashley, Claire, Kelly, Shannon, Dana and etc.
Alexis in MALE VERSION is pronunced as ah-LEHK-SihS (English) or aeL-ehK-SIY (French). Alexis is used predominantly in the Spanish, Greek, French, Russia, and German languages for male names, and its origin is Old Greek. The name is of the meaning defender of man kind.
It is derived from the element 'alexein' meaning to ward off, to defend. Alexios (Old Greek) and Alexius (Latin) are old forms of Alexis. The name was borne by numerous saints; among them, the 5th-century Saint Alexius of Rome was the most famous. According to legend, he fled his arranged marriage to go on pilgrimage, and he was later
venerated as a 'Man of God'.
The Alexis that I know is very funny. His
personality is so
interesting and
entertaining. He has an observant Pisces-zodiac personality and isn’t afraid to stand up for himself in a fight-backbone. He’s smart, hardworking,
straight forward and isn’t afraid of what others think of him. Did I mention he’s attractive with dreamy eyes and dark long lashes, but not very tall. He has made it his goal to be present for his child, a loving, involved, faithful husband and the opposite of his father. Lastly, his hobby includes gaming.
My husband’s name is Alexis. He’s of Spanish origin. He loves his name now, but it was hard for him as a child. No one told him it was a unisex name until he started school and kids can be so mean. They made fun of his name and
picked on him. He did fight back, but it’s hard when it’s you against many. The name Alexis is
pronounced differently for males -Ah-lex-sis-. His parents were going to name him Jorge. I’m very happy that they chose Alex instead.
