TYT

TYT refers to, amongst other things, The Young Turks which is a progressive/liberal talk show popular on Youtube and Sirius/XM radio. The show is hosted by Cenk Uygur mainly. Ana Kasparian is a host for pop culture and bizarre news segments. Other charactars seen on the show include Jayar Jackson and Jesus Godoy who, while working mainly in the booth, are often called upon to add their opinions to the topic at hand.

The show's style is very unique. While offering serious analysis of issues, it maintains a rather casual tone overall. Viewers quickly become aware of certain phrases that are used repeatedly by Uygur which add to the humorous tone of the show.

Clips from the radio show are uploaded to youtube frequently and often become viewed many times and will be found amongst the most viewed clips of the day in the politics category of Youtube, and on occassion, amongst the top viewed overall for the day.

TYT

TYT is an acronym referring to "The Young Turks," which is a online partisan alternative media outlet that streams, most notably, on YouTube. Disturbingly, the outlet's name, chosen by its central founder Cenk Uygur, is taken from a political movement responsible for the Armenian Genocide. The outlet claims to provide in-depth analyses not found in the more mainstream news outlets; however, most of the information TYT obtains is lifted from conventional news sites and TYT’s analysis of that information typically consists of nothing more than a uninformed opinion by its presenters. The tone of the "reporting" and "analyses" is frequently vulgar, simplistic, and presented in a highly dichotomized (good vs. evil) fashion. TYT has been heavily criticized for its frequent use of “yellow journalism” tactics. Exaggerations, scandal-mongering, lying by omission, hypocrisy, failure to fact-check and retract errors are all commonly observed to occur.
