Nilla is a take on another well known N word often said between African Americans.

The meaning of nilla has two distinct definitions. One means friend, brother, etc. and is mostly used in greeting, such as "Yo wassup my nilla", in this case the word nilla is used in a friendly way.

On the other hand, nilla can also be an insult. Statements such as "F*ck you piece of sh*t nilla" used when one is angry, frustrated, etc. So it all depends on the mood: good mood and nilla means friend, bad mood and nilla can be a slur or even a racial slur.

Nilla is used most commonly by caucasians greating each other, people of other races can use the term as well, though SOME Caucasians, not all, feel uncomfortable with others,
Africans or other races in particular, saying it. In today's society, a black guy can only say "wassup nilla" to a white guy if and only if the white guy is perfectly cool with it. Otherwise, verbal fights may occur.
