The Beatles are one of the most influential bands in the history of popular
music. Their melodies bring people
happiness, as do the hearts of the four young men the band consisted of. They swept an entire generation off their feet and their presence continues to be felt. Not much else needs to be said that hasn't already been said.
If you're not a Beatles fan (and hardcore about it), don't treat them like they're something evil, because they aren't. The
music is separate from the actions of the band. Sometimes they did wrong and stupid things, but so does everybody else in the world. Most of their songs were harmless and about good things. Just see the
music as something that's not for you and don't spoil other people's joy by throwing a fit over how much you dislike the Beatles.
Now, a critique for mega-Beatles fans. Never make the coked-up assumption that kids who listen to modern
music are completely against the Beatles and other influential artists. I
will admit to liking dozens of modern artists usually bashed by oldies/classic rock-purists, but I still think all of the influential musicians of the past are at the top. I have a lot of
friends who appreciate classic
music even if it may not be their preferred style.
Random Person: Man, the Beatles suck, they're dirty hippies with cheesy
music that doesn't mean anything, how can people listen to that...
Me: Cool story
