borrowed light

If you are in a room with no windows or other direct sources of light, and if light enters from an adjoining lighted room, the indirect illumination is borrowed light.
We worked in the library and had only the borrowed light from the adjacent room to work with that night.

Lawn Burro

Literally: Thank You

This how Red Necks say thank you in Spanish. It is a phonetic transliteration of "Grassy Ass." The Red Neck attempt at pronouncing Gracias.

Because the attempt at prouncing gracias is usually an honest effort at inclusivity Lawn Burro is way of gently referring to people who are kind hearted but don't quite get it.

Sometimes replaces De Nada.
Among a Spanish Speaker and Souther non-Spanish Speaker who are friendly:

non-Spanish Speaker, "Grassy Ass"

Spanish Speaker in reply, "Lawn Burro"

borrowed time

Generally used by old people of themselves. They're living longer than they're "supposed to", hence they're living on borrowed time.
My 90th birthday is approaching. I feel like I'm living on borrowed time.

Can I Borrow A Feeling?

The awesome single of Kirk VanHouten from the TV show, the Simpsons.
"Can I borrow a Feeling?
Can you lend me a Jar of Love?
Hurtin' Hearts need some healing,
Take my hand with your glove of love."
