A larp is someone who larps, being an acronym for "Live Action Role Play".

More modernly, a larp is someone who falsely acts like a fan of something they have never participated in (either literally or metaphorically)

Larp is now a new slang word used in the anime/manga community to describe a person who pretends to be a part of a fandom that has gained popularity, solely for the reason to amass views.

“Did you see that guy? All he does is larp animes that are trendy.”

Larp

Larp is a verb that’s similar to “bandwagoner” in use, primarily used defensively by people who perceive an attack on their “insider” identity when another person engages with something they enjoy and thought was niche, or something that was niche that’s now getting traction and bringing in a lot of newgens.

Larp is also used as a pejorative against people who are trying too hard to seem like they enjoy niche things, or detractively against a piece of media that looks like its intention is purely to be niche and seem unique.

People often say “Larp” is a word that gets thrown around too much outside of its meaning, but it starts to make sense if you view it as a defensive word people use to gain back some legitimacy mentally on their “insider” status on a piece of media, and to lower the person it’s used against in their mind as a “fake fan” or a “newgen”.

(Note: only PRIMARILY defensive, sometimes the person getting called a Larp IS an obnoxious newgen)

Proviene del anglicismo "Live Action Role Play", donde un grupo de personas se visten y actúan como su "persona" en ese mundo alternativo, normalmente medieval (ejemplo visual: la escena postcrédito del episodio 13 de la segunda temporada de Gravity Falls "Calabozos, Calabozos y Más Calabozos").

Larp

Larp is slang for people who pretend to know something, despite having absolutely no knowledge of it. Some larpers genuinely don't know what something means, while others pretend to be idiotic to look like they are larping. This is normally used in video games or movies with people that act like they know everything to said character or scene.
