An expression that can mean any of the following: 1) I have no ulterior motive; 2)you were not really listening to what I said; 3) your argument against my stated position is not pursuasive.

One:"Say what?"
"I'm just sayin' we're going to town and we think you ought to come along?"

Two:"Whatever."
"Hey, I'm just sayin'...

Three: "And those are the reasons I disagree with you."
"Well, I'm just sayin'.

1. Abbreviated phrase of the longer expression "I'm not sayin, Im just sayin," meaning to merely suggest an idea or comment without making it your personal opinion or belief.

2. To say something aloud without advocating or supporting it

"Dude why do poor people have so many fucking children? They should have to agree to permanent birth control before they apply for welfare."

What you use when you are trying to insinuate something and they pick up on it. It's like a get out of free jail card for those moments.

Trying to let someone thing you're "not sayin'", when, in fact, you most certainly ARE "sayin'".

Trying to make it seem like you are not saying anything unkind or questionable, but then admitting that you are. It happens so fast, no one will be the wiser...

Ramona: Well, maybe a little.

Beezus : Dang - for reals ?
