Taken and adapted from Bluetooth pairing (when two Bluetooth enabled devices agree to communicate with one another).

In bluetooth, When this happens, the two devices join what is called a trusted pair. When one device recognizes another device in an established trusted pair, each device automatically accepts communication, bypassing the discovery and authentication process that normally happen during Bluetooth interactions.

This can however be used when on the town to refer to women you hope to hook up with.

A character in fan fiction that is/can be/ has been paired up with just about any male and/or female character from the original work. Whether it is out of character (also know as OC) or not.

Haruno Sakura (from Naruto) has been paired or has fallen in love with just about anyone as has Hermione Granger thus making them pairing whores.

slash pairing 

A slash pairing is when you pair two or more male characters together.

The female version of that is called Femslash.

A: The only slash pairing I ship is John and Sherlock!
B: Sweet, I ship Ciel and Sebastian from Black Butler.

OTP is a perfect pairing between two fictional characters. Klaus and Caroline invented the word OTP.

One True Pairing is a couple so perfect for each other. For example the line that Klaus ended all ships. "He's your first love, I intend to be your last. However, long it takes."

A romantic pairing (whether it be from a video game, movie, book, etc) that is completely implausible and/or bizarre, but people support it anyway, for laughs or otherwise.
