A relatively affluent town on the North Shore of Long Island in Nassau County. The reality is that Syosset itself is not too much of a rich town (there's a trailer park off Jericho Turnpike). It is however surrounded by wealthy towns such as Muttontown, Woodbury, and Oyster Bay Cove.
It has a predominantly White population, but has recently seen a large increase in Asians and Indians due to the school district. Syosset Central School District is generally known as having one of the top 5
high schools on Long Island.
Students in Syosset High School can usually be placed into one of two categories. Honors or Regular Classes. The Honors students
will take full schedules of Honors classes and later AP and
college-level courses. Honors students are usually either
Asian, Indian, or Jewish. Many of these kids skip lunch to take another class. These are the kids in 15 clubs and 7 sports, while juggling an internship, a side-job and hours of
homework. They will do just about anything to make sure their
college app is pristine, so they can get into a
top university.
Then there'
s the Regular class students who are much more
chill and
don't worry as much about every little thing that happens. These are the kids that rather develop a social life. By junior and senior year they tend to take 2 or 3 free periods and
chill. Many can be found before school at Stillwell smoking weed with their friends. They end up at SUNYs, local universities, and of course "NKK"
