Sidekick

A friend/associate of a more popular, charismatic person. The sidekick gains most of his/her acclaim from merely being connected so closely to the more powerful acquaintance. Sidekicks can be found anywhere from comic books (where the term began) to the workplace and schoolyard.

Neil: Is Dan really that popular a guy? Most people in the office just talk to him because he's Ron's little sidekick.

Gina: The two of them are inseperable, you have to give them that.

Neil: Oh, I'll give that little Dan something he won't soon forget!

Most popularly used by teenagers to constantly communicate with their friends at ALL TIMES, including while at school, in the car with parents, in movie theatres, and even at social gatherings. Basically, its a social life in a phone.
