A Warhammer 40k race that can be simply defined as:

Space-elves with a superiority complex that nearly went extinct due to said superiority complex.

But can be more accurately defined as:

A race highly superior to humans - referred to by Aeldari as Mon-Keigh - that are elf-like in nature and experience everything - senses, emotions, etc. - in much higher definition. It was by this that they became complacent and sunk lower and lower into debauchery. This debauchery birthed a Chaos goddess, Slaanesh, who wiped out their great empire.

"Hey man, are those elves?"
"No, those are Aeldari, they're superior to humans in every possible way."

The representative of the Protoss Conclave in the computer game Starcraft, Aldaris divides his time between lecturing and arresting Tassadar and Zeratul, fucking up the best plan to defeat the Zerg, and telling the Executor to construct additional pylons. Is eventually murdered by Kerrigan.
