buffet busser

Buffet restaurant employee whose responsibilities include serving and replenishing beverages, taking away finished plates, cleaning up big messes, taking out trash and cleaning bathrooms. Just about the most thankless job ever. Worse than being a busser in a regular restaurant.

When I can, I try to give the buffet busser a generous tip especially if it's a special occasion.

poop the dog

The act taking a dog outside for the sole purpose of allowing the animal to deficate. The activity is finished once the dog poops. There is no fun or exercise involved.

At my apartment complex, most of the dog owners just poop the dog a few times a day. The good thing is that they always pick up the waste.

An employee's state of attentiveness in effectively operating a cash register in the retail setting. A condition of readiness in making accurate sales to customers.

With a long line waiting, the buyer has purchased multiple items.

Back-up cashier: "That'll be $2.75. Er, no...$34.86. Sorry, I'm not in register mode."

shoes on a wire

Footwear hanging from an overhead wire by the laces. The laces of the shoes are tied together, then lobbed up to the wire(s) so that the shoes hang and dangle. Supposedly signals a location where drugs can be purchased; also symbolizes pointlessness i.e. there is no good reason for the object (shoes) being there. Can be found near schools, and in poor areas and tourist locations.

"Once in awhile I'll spot shoes on a wire and it sparks my curiosity and I'll chuckle."

"Let's play the shoes on a wire game. First one to get the shoes to hang wins."

Video equipment on the body to allow recording of events. Many police departments are using this technology.
