weird vibe

An unusual and/or somewhat uncomfortable feeling in response to a person, place or situation.

Grandma's birthday party had a weird vibe. At her request, the DJ kept playing "It's Raining Men" over and over again.

Some beach towns in California have a weird vibe, but I keep going back to 'em.

sociolect

In sociolinguistics, a social dialect associated with a certain socioeconomic class, ethnic or age group. It is a combination of the terms "social" or "socioeconomic" with "dialect."

Valspeak is a sociolect that originated in California's San Fernando Valley in the 1970s with the language of the Valley Girl. Examples are "fer shur" and "totally" usually made with high variation in pitch. Popularized in music and film in the 1980s.

buffet busser

Buffet restaurant employee whose responsibilities include serving and replenishing beverages, taking away finished plates, cleaning up big messes, taking out trash and cleaning bathrooms. Just about the most thankless job ever. Worse than being a busser in a regular restaurant.

When I can, I try to give the buffet busser a generous tip especially if it's a special occasion.
