Colloquial term for a wheel clamp. Denver was the first place they were used.

My car has four wheels each complete with its own Denver boot. I'm not going anywhere!

Any type of contestant in a game who is entered in order to cheat. For example, a professional bowler who plays in an amateur bowling match.

You lost because you were up against a ringer.

DMZ

De-militarized zone. Area where no military activity should take place, thus also refers to peaceful urban areas away from drug-infested gang territories.

Oh, how I would like to live in a DMZ and not have bullets winging past my head all day and night!

Also someone or something likely to win in a game, race etc.
