Coldfix

An update applied to a video game during regularly scheduled maintenance.

Contrast hotfix: an urgent, targeted update applied quickly to a live game to fix a critical issue without waiting for a regularly scheduled patch or maintenance.

The word "hot" comes from applying the fix to a "live" system—meaning the game or server is actively running while the fix goes into effect.

The engineering team was in no hurry to deploy a coldfix to resolve pre-planned character model updates on schedule.
