Bluntie

Phrase used in the Royal Air Force to describe those in non-enemy facing roles.

Derived from the fact that if the force were a spear they would be so far from the killing end that they are the blunt end of the wooden handle, less threatening than a splinter from said handle. They would send their washing closer to the frontline.

Usually never at work as either retaking fitness tests, closed for “admin”, or sat in the coffee shop having “meetings”. Most are so incompetent at their jobs that the rare good bluntie spends eternity unfucking everything.
Pilot 1 - “my op allowance for flying over a war zone didn’t get processed this month so I went to admin to get it sorted”

Pilot 2 - “and did they?”

Pilot 1 - “no they lost the paperwork”

Pilot 2 - “what a fucking bluntie
