Old english as in the nursery rhyme "pop goes the weasel"

Up and down the old London road in and out th eagle

Pop goes the weasel.

(A weasel was slang for a flat iron used by tailors - the nursery rhyme refers to tailors in the UK pawning their irons to go to the pub).
