boot-out

In Alpine Skiing a boot-out occurs when the skier lays his or her skis so far over on their edges that the ski boot makes contact with the snow causing the ski edges to lose their edge grip.

Boot-out mostly occurs during a carved ski turn and impacts Alpine skiers far more often than snowboarders.
I had a boot-out on that steep section and my skis shot out from under me.

turning screws

Refers to working in a ski shop and is derived from adjusting and mounting ski bindings. Turning screws also includes the work a person does in a snowboard shop as well.
I'm turning screws in a ski shop at the base of Okemo and I scored a season pass too!

ducking the rope

The act of going outside a ski resort boundry or closed area. Ducking a rope often results in the loss of one's skiing or snowboarding privlages and in many states and provinces is punishable by law.
If I catch you ducking the rope again, I'm going to have to pull your ski pass.

Jackson Hole Air Force

The Jackson Hole Air Force is the name for a group of men who were ducking the rope and skiing outside the ski resort boundry at the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort in the years prior to such activities becoming legal.

The movie, "Swift. Silent. Deep" follows the groups founding members with in-depth interviews and epic skiing footage.
The Jackson Hole Air Force is finally making a little money from their criminal skiing activity. God bless those bastards!

ski quiver

A ski quiver refers to a skier's collection of ski gear. A ski quiver can be anywhere from one to fifty pairs, or more, of skis or ski boots, depending on the indivdual's point of view.
I just waxed my ski quiver and all five pair of skis are ready for winter.

blower skiing

Outstanding, epic, skiing and or snowboarding conditions, both during and after a major snow event. Blower skiing and riding is specific to powder snow conditions, but the term is sometimes used in a general sense to describe an amazing ski or snowboarding experience.
The blower skiing conditions from that last storm cycle makes me wanna give up the day job!
Slang used to describe a pair of skis used for the sport of snow skiing.
Somebody ripped-off my new boards!
