Often associated with running before the birds chirp.

Similar to a peloton of cyclists, a suffraton is an Asylum of long distance and ultra runners that run in a pack and share in cutting the wind resistance of the asylum.

A sudden release of material when the side of a sand cliff or sand dune is disturbed. Similar to an avalanche only with sand.

Premature Acceleration

The act of taking off way too fast too soon in a long distance race and burning out before completion of the event.

Oh man did you see Jeff take off? Yeah man he was flying but had premature acceleration. I saw him walking in the last mile.

sufferbuds

A term used by a group of long distance runner to characterize their runner friends that push each other to excel in their sport. Suffering through a run is considered a distinction of high effort and suffering together is better.

Mike’s sufferbuds consisted of Wilton, Vicky, Colleen, Bryan, Kevin, Char, Cat, Deon and Jonas.
