Government

A corporate entity, like the one that owns the buildings people live in, work in, shop in, dine in, play in, the doctor's offices they go to, and so on.
People ended up giving the government what the government felt like they deserved.

Government

The government is as capable of lying as anyone else, including the police. Of course they are going to feed people statistics and trends that sound good to support their agenda, it gives them more control. Convincing people they have control of them by telling them they have control of the virus or some other surface problem is usually enough for them to keep doing what they're doing.
Everyone is part of the problem, including the government. The government is not really more qualified to do anything than most of it's people, it's just a group of people with control of more money, resources/supplies, and weapons than most of it's people.

Police state

A totalitarian state where people have to ask permission to do anything.
People end up with a police state if they don't wake up and fight to keep their government in check. Sometimes it just keeps getting darker, there's no guarantee the light at the end of any tinnel is going to be daylight.

A year some groups of people calling themselves governments, or groups with the intent to become governments used to prepare most of the world's population for their more totalitarian form of government. If you look at what followed 1918 (depression and world war), and think that history can't repeat itself because technology has advanced or a few things have changed on the surface since then, think again. As long as people don't keep the groups calling themselves a government in check, they have no right to do anything the government hasn't given them permission to do.
2020 wasn't the worst year for a plague in history, the world has been through worse. If a few groups convince enough people that 2020 is the worst thing that could happen to them, they have almost total control over the lives of the rest of the popilation for the upcoming years. That defeats the point of calling any government a democracy, since calling it that is misleading.

Peace sign

Just like anybody can deliver a speech about peace, anybody can do a peace sign with their fingers (or a fist pound, or an elbow bump) and it means nothing, because it doesn't signal anyone's true intentions.
A lot of people want someone to think a peace sign means something about someone's true intentions. If a guy made a gun gesture with his hand every time he intended to shoot you every time he planned on doing it, there wouldn't be as many unsuspecting deaths by gunshot wounds. At least somebody would see it coming before they died if the guy who made the gun gesture was telling the truth.

Hitler preached about peace, making life better, and all the same things Martin Luther King, John Lennon, or Gandhi preached about. The difference between them was what in they practiced, not in what they preached.
Anybody can talk about peace and making the world better, no matter what their true intentions are. Hitler is an example of someone who could deliver convincing speeches about how and what he wanted to do to make the world better, but it was his intentions he was acting on, not his words.

A guy who started off preaching about things like unity and peace, along with prosperity after the depression in Germany. He didn't like it too much when people didn't cooperate/comply.
Hitler didn't talk about bad ideas, but what he said and what he intended to do were different things.
