Being open and sharing becomes lecturing when you're talking to somebody who wasn't looking for your level of openness, which seems like hypocrisy. Like everyone else, the person you're told you're lecturing is a hypocrite too.

Like wanting to tell an asshole what an asshole they are, but instead saying something like you are unique, telling somebody they're mediocre at something doesn't do anybody any good. Let them know there are other jobs if you don't want to tell them they're no good at something they're doing.
