The girl wanted to make their lives difficult by fucking with their lives, in an effort at relationship sabotage, one way of driving a wedge between two people to to play both the way the saboteur plays all sides.

Tattle tale
Lindsay went to her mother with a report on her brothers conduct, never a report on something that was actually broken or something that actually needed to be done, a report to get somebody in trouble for the sake of getting somebody in trouble is what a tattle tale is. Somebody talking about their relationship with another person or who the person is as they know them in an interview isn't the same as a tattle tale.
