A person or position deliberately idealized as morally enlightened or socially progressive to deflect criticism, when their stance is actually rooted in superficial virtue-signaling or ideological conformity rather than genuine understanding or substance.

strawbilly 

A person or position deliberately mischaracterized as ignorant, bigoted, or anti-diversity by critics to discredit them, when their stance is actually rooted in practical, principled, or artistic concerns such as fairness, safety, legality, authenticity, or coherence.

“The director wasn’t against inclusion—he became a strawbilly when his request for historical accuracy was painted as prejudice.”
