SA-7

SAM System SA-7b Grail
The SAM System SA-7b Grail is a Russian self-propelled AA rocket system. The SA-7b Grail was introduced in 1972. It launches on a 9P54M launcher. It can carry around 4 SAM missiles. These missiles are “tail-chasers”, heat-seeking and pretty resistant to IR emissions and flare decoys. The gunner can be fitted with an IFF identifier that allows him to know whether his target is friend or foe.

SA-8

SA-8a Gecko

The SA-8a Gecko is a mobile self-propelled SAM system. The SA-8a Gecko was first introduced during a parade through Red Square on November 7th, 1975. The SA-8a Gecko is amphibious. It was based on the SA-N-4, a naval version used on many Soviet ships, like the Krivak-Class Cruiser. The SA-8 missile could travel for about thirteen kilometers. It weighed about one hundred ninety kilograms when ready to launch. The SA-8 missile uses IR tracking to find its targets. The Gecko itself carries four SA-8 missiles, and another 8 inside for reload purposes.

SA-9

SA-9 Gaskin

The SA-9 Gaskin is a Soviet amphibious mobile SAM system. It was first introduced in the 1975 Red Square Parade. The Gaskin consists of the SA-9 launcher atop the BRDM-2A. The Gaskin can carry two missiles boxes on the launch pad and four more inside for reload purposes. Missiles can be launched one at a time, two at a time, or four at a time. The Gaskin does not have radar.
