My best Amish friend Ervin Hochstetler has a gorgeous and sweetly-serene wife named Esther; I wonder if her kind and warmly-motherly nature is largely to to her having healthy esthergen levels?

A quick and discreet "pass-through" of a nearby area to check on a repairman's progress, observe if certain persons are present, etc. Practiced by a considerate person who doesn't wish to hover, or when the actor prefers not to reveal his presence or disturb anyone until the appropriate time.
Customer: I wonder if the mechanic is done with my oil-change yet... think I'll do a discreet flyby of the garage and see what he's doing at the moment.

A menagerie of objects dat most folks would label as low-value crap, but with da hoarder believes he'll find useful someday.
I recently re-evaluated my cullection, and got rid of a lot of stuff dat I hadn't touched for twenty-plus years, and wasn't likely to need in da next six months. I just hope dat "Murphy's Law Of Junk" doesn't turn around and bite me, though --- you know da old "wry-humor" saying: "'Junk' is what ya hold onto for twenty-five years and then throw out three days before you need it!"

Da national-database-list where you sign up through donutcall.gov, so dat da local overweight pastry-munching cops will not be permitted to ring your phone.
Just trying hard to behave yourself will likely be much more effective at preventing, "Hi, this is Officer ___ with the town P.D." Ma Bell jingles than signing up with da Donutcall Registry; most police departments do not even acknowledge said registry, anyway, since they legally have the right to call you if they feel they have legitimate business with you.

A university where either you feel so homesick dat you "go E.T." at every chance ya get, or they let you make free telephone calls as a perk for attending.
Since inexpensive cell phones and budget usage-plans are da norm these days, da concept of a "callege" is not such a big deal anymore, since you can now "phone home" whenever you want, and for little or no cost, as well.

A not-so-stellar past moral/business record of someone who's either a board-game player or a cab driver.
Any taxi-operator who has a history of playing board-games wif his passengers --- either by parking someplace and moving da game-pieces around instead of expediently conveying da customers to where they're going, or even partaking of said sedentary recreation while actually he's behind da wheel, and thus not properly keeping his eyes on da road --- would definitely be viewed as having a checkered career!

George Burns lived to be 100; I wonder if he would have become a centaurnarian if he'd stayed around another year?
