Suffering Olympics

(1.) When someone tries to hold a contest on whose had it worse, as if suffering was a cereal box with a prize at the bottom.. And not in fact, a depressing reality with no winners.

(2.) Employing mental gymnastics to try and cement the message that your suffering is the only suffering that counts.

A suffering olympics can be held in either a one on one scenario (where the person directly compares their own suffering)...Or it could be a context where the person compares first world to third world problems, and individual vs. Systemic, (always as if one cancels out the other. )

People who try to turn other people's pain into the suffering olympics, usually have one of two goals:

(1.) They're purely seeking personal vindication, because they're too dumb to realize this isn't a contest anyone should want to win.

(2.) They're trying to police someone else's feelings, boundaries or expectations, after being called out for bad behavior. (I.E. I'm not that bad because I had it so much worse growing up. (Or) How dare you even suggest I modify my behavior in any way! Aren't you aware there are children in Africa dying of AIDS?!)

Great Horned Owl

An otherwise cool bird, terribly afflicted with the malady known as, "resting bitch face."

While horizontal lips refer to the lips on a person's face, vertical lips refer to a woman's labia.

Person A: "I want to kiss your lips."

Person B: "Horizontal? Or vertical lips?"

Bird of Pray

This is a shout out to all the young eagles, hawks, falcons and vultures, (birds of prey) who are afraid of heights. And find themselves praying for the courage to push their little taloned feet off the tree and into the pretty blue sky.

You can do it!

I want to live up to my bird of prey potential, but right now I'm just a bird of pray.

Freedom of the Press

(1.) (Gym etiquette):
Showing consideration to other gym members by not hogging machines or bench presses, others may want to use.

(2.) The freedom felt after physically venting one's daily frustrations, by lifting weights.

Better to abide by "freedom of the press" and be conscientious of other gym members, than hog a machine you are not using. Or are taking lengthy rest periods on, during the busiest time of day.

South Star

The opposite of a North Star. Anything that guides you away from your goals, life purpose, or the best that is in you. It could be addiction or bad habits. It could be the wrong people. It could be hanging on to false or malignant hopes. Whatever it is, it will make your life go south. (Pun intended).

If you follow your south star, your life's natural trajectory is downward.

Puff the Magic Dragon

An asthmatic baby dragon that wheezes small puffs of fire. Just wants to make friends, but ends up accidently burning stuff down, when he forgets his inhaler. The last time was at a furniture store. His friend was really looking forward to that sofa set. It was so soft before it was crispy.

Puff the magic dragon is seriously over having asthma.

Puff the magic dragon wishes he got his name listening to Bob Marley and smoking a bowl instead. He thinks that sounds nice.
