Panhandle

a long, narrow projection from the rest of the state

States with panhandles: Texas, Florida,
Oklahoma, West Virginia, Virginia, Alaska, Idaho, Maryland, and Nebraska

The Florida panhandle (a.k.a Baja Alabama) is completely different from the rest of the state.
