sas

Formed by David Sterling to aid montgomery in North Africa in WWII, the SAS was a team of five officers and sixty men who were all drawn from the commando units. They were put through gruelling training. Early failures were overlooked in the light of successful tactics and destructive capability shown later in the war.

When one member was captured, he escaped, and walked 200 miles in eight days of blistering desert heat with no more than a map, compass and a pair of shorts to rejoin his comrades.

superman

When riding a horse or motorcycle, hold onto the handles/horse's ears and kick your legs back to resume a horizontal pose with arms in front and legs behind. Keep this up until you hit your neck on a tree branch and become paralysed. After doing this, pretend to care for fellow cripples.

This has been mastered by Christopher Reeve, the actor who played superman in the movies.
I was supermanning on the Kawasaki but managed to duck just in time to avoid the tree.

bourgeoisie

Another word for 'new money'. The real bourgeoisie were more middle class than new money, but the divide that separated the serfs from the bourgeoisie, nobility, clergy and royals was very large.
In pre-revolutionary France, the bourgeoisie were the lawyers and accountants, working for the aristocracy, clergy and monarch.
