Someone who is there for you, and someone who will hang out with you no matter what your doing.Even if it's nothing they would still be there, and they would talk to you when needed, and a friend would make an effort to see you just as much as you do for them.

A person you are friends with, but is treated poorly, and is talked to when your friends are absent. The person who sees you as a backup friend does not care about you, and you get screwed over.

Since Julie ignored Corrine's text about a sleepover, Corrine got the sign that she was the backup friend, because Julie asks her to do things very seldom.

Michael is such a fairweather friend because he only hangs out with Justin at parties and other fun things, but whenever he needs something Michael just bails on him. What an ass!
