Counter-hacking

A form of grey-hat hacking where hackers hunt down and bust petty script kiddies and amateur black-hat hackers. Often implies contractor work or the use of honeypot traps to bring malicious hackers to justice.

"Apparently, he was using his charity as a cover-up for his hacking endeavors. He got busted a few months ago in a massive counter-hacking operation and is now in jail. Good fucking riddance."

McDonalds

A restaurant chain that people who willingly stand for the national anthem at American basketball games eat at.

Can you believe it, Earl? If our team wins the basketball game, McDonalds will give out free french fries for showing our game tickets at the drive thru window! I'm sure proud to be an American!

The doctor's middle finger

A slang term for opioids, where they are viewed as a doctor's way of giving someone the middle finger. If the doctor can't diagnose a patient's condition, and the patient continues to insist on treatment options in spite of the doctor's reluctance, the doctor may prescribe the patient opioids as a way of simply shutting them up rather than helping them figure out what's wrong. Given the naturally addictive nature of opioid medications, this is often seen as a doctor's way of hurting someone back, often being viewed as the worst-kept secret of American healthcare.

"I recently found out my grandma's death was attributed to an opioid overdose. She'd received the doctor's middle finger over her chronic kidney troubles in 2006, and things were never really the same for her since then."

Hyperinclusion

Excessive openness of a group in fear of cultural exclusivity. Often flounders in the face of questions regarding cultural identity, and acts as a political caveat to prevent the policing of deleterious behaviors. (cf. Gatekeeping)

Coping with severe discrimination online, most furries and the online communities they manage are rife with policies of hyperinclusion. They shut down any semblance of 'gatekeeping' in an effort to make their communities as wholesome as possible. Aside from the cultural dilution that naturally occurs as of a result of this sort of philosophy, this can add a thick layer of arguably superfluous red tape to many instances of judicial action, resulting in sluggish moderator action and minor server corruption.

pulling a Schrodinger

Making a half-sarcastic comment to a group of people that can be rebuked as sarcasm/banter if unappreciated, or just as easily allowed to slide if it's appreciated.

The name is derived from the famous Schrödinger's cat experiment, a demonstration of the concept of quantum superposition. 'The cat in this box is either dead or alive, and we have no way of knowing for certain until we open the box...'

1: "Mark just made a joke about women's rights. He's uh... he's being sarcastic, though, right...?"
2: "That guy is just pulling a Schrodinger to gauge the overall social climate here. See that? The douche just took it right back!"

Dream priming

A psychological technique that can increase dream recall rates over time, useful for healing from depression or trauma. Dream priming involves saying to yourself out loud before you go to sleep something along the lines of "If I have an epiphany during my dreams, I will wake up before my mind forgets the dream so I can ponder it more thoroughly."

To escape the confines of your mind, you must first listen to your heart. The mind may need to relearn this ability in typical cases of post-traumatic depression, which is where dreams come in significantly handy. While dreaming, the mind is truly able to wander free without being stifled by conscious thought. However, dreams are naturally forgotten in the course of natural awakening from sleep. Dreams are only remembered upon awakening when one awakens before their dreams can be naturally discarded from memory. As such, one must make an intentional effort to recall their dreams in order to make the best use of them. Dream priming is an excellent way to accomplish this, though it does take a certain degree of practice to master such a skill.

The most basic way to prime your subconscious for this dream recording process is to give yourself verbal instructions before going to sleep. "To escape the confines of my mind, I must first listen to my heart. If my dreams present a worthy path for me to take, or an epiphany worth contemplating further, I will awaken before my mind can discard the memory." Any variation of such a phrase can suffice as long as it is relatively cogent and spoken out loud to maximize mental retention rates.

nap

A nap taken at midday that one awakens from at an obscene hour, throwing off their sleep schedule. Common among neo-neckbeards and other such individuals.

person at 1:15 PM: Ugh... so tired. I'm gonna go take a nap.
person falls to sleep at 1:20 PM; wakes up at 6:05 PM
person: Damn it... my sleep schedule's still garbage. I should probably stop taking a "nap" every other afternoon.
