Get the Indo-Canadianmug. Dream pop is a musical genre closely related to shoegaze, which originated in 1980s Britain with bands like the Cocteau Twins. It tends to be less associated with the walls of noise characteristic of shoegaze, and more with dreamy soundscapes and ethereal vocals. The vocals in dream pop tend to be more audible than those in shoegaze. The songs in general tend to have a more accessible, pop-orientated sound, and are less aggressive.
Many people erroneously use "dream pop" as a synonym for shoegaze. Some also argue that dream pop is in fact a subgenre of shoegaze.

Get the Punjabimug. A musical genre originating in Bristol, UK in the 1990s. It was originally informally known by the British music press as "the Bristol sound". The music is characterized by downtempo beats, smooth synths and ethereal (usually female) vocals. The style combines elements of hip-hop and jazz with rock and shoegaze/dream pop. To a lesser extent, the sound also borrows from house and reggae.
Although these days there are few new trip-hop acts, the genre has been very influential upon countless hip-hop and electronica acts, such as DJ Shadow, Gorillaz, Air and pretty much all dubstep artists.

Get the trip-hopmug. American rapper, hailing from Cincinnati, Ohio but based in Oakland, California. A founding member of anticon, he raps for several projects including Themselves, cLOUDDEAD, Subtle, 13 & God and Deep Puddle Dynamics. Although he has an indisputably sick flow, his unusually high, nasal voice is an aquired taste. Furthermore, although his lyrics are highly intellectual and literate, they are not easy to comprehend.
