Literally hypocritical people. Refers to individuals who themselves did all sorts of anti-social things such as smoking, drinking, premarital sex in their youth (or continues to do so secretly); whose children, relatives and neighbors still do the same - yet they continue to preach and enforce religious and conservative social values on those they can impose their thuggishness on.
Uncle John is such a bhondo lok. He used to drink when he was young, his own son sleeps with his girlfriend, yet he goes around scolding his nephews for simply dating and being out late at night.

A Bangla word referring to a person considered trash. The word is possibly a derivative of the Haitian Creole word fatra referring to garbage or a low-class person, that somehow made its way to modern Bangla.
