Starting off with rear wheel drive in 1966, the Corolla was introduced in the U.S. in 1968 powered by a 1.1L engine. Skipping over all the useless 1 something liter crap, the Corolla is still using a 1.8L engine, and Toyota has sold more Corolla's than most companies have sold cars.

It had the CVCC Advanced Stratified Charge, In-line 4 cylinder SOHC engine, With 72hp @ 4500rpm and 4 wheel independent struts. Then in 1994, the Honda Prelude had a VTEC with 190hp @ 6800rpm.
