Noodnic

A small mouse-like humanoid which lives in tunnels coming off the main transit tunnels into Hammerdal (in the Lone Wolf series, or more specifically, in book 2). Noodnics are scavengers which survive by stealing small items and gathering anything which is discarded. They are hoarders, and are somewhat afraid of outsiders.

They appear to be sentient, although the effectiveness of Lone Wolf's animal kinship discipline in communicating with them suggests that they are as much animal as humanoid.
The Noodnics might help Lone Wolf defeat the Helghast near Hammerdal, if he is able to obtain their support.

Caranthir

One of the seven sons of Feanor, a minor character in Tolkien's The Silmarillion. Often listed along with Celegorm and Curufin, but absent from the account of the kidnapping of Luthien, he died along with this pair while assailing Elwing's forces.
If there's seven, and they're all in pairs, there has to be an odd one out, right? And it's this guy.

Ljuk

City in southern Kalte, a trading post under the nominal control of Sommerlund, which acts as a basis for trade with the Ice Barbarians. Sometimes listed as the capital of Kalte, although its role is not to control the vast icy area, but simply to act as a trading post.

The name-form is not Sommlending, so presumably is derived from an earlier village or notable landmark of the same name, in the language of Kalte.
Lone Wolf visits the city of Ljuk in Lone Wolf 3: The Caverns of Kalte, and it is from here that his mission to find Vonotar begins.

master-signifier

In Lacanian theory, a signifier which stops the slippage of the signified under the signifier and fixes meaning, thereby forming a stable symbolic order. It is a particular signifier with no signified of its own, which stands in for the "fullness" of the meaning of the symbolic system itself. However, since contingency and lack are taken to be primary in Lacanian theory, it is necessarily arbitrary and is unable to guarantee its own primacy except through arbitrary and ungrounded violence. It is always haunted by the return of the Real.
In my view, this concept is useful but its basis is mistaken. What is repressed is active desire, held down for fear of punishment, and not some kind of ontological void. Lacan is wrong to pose his problems on such a metaphysical level.

neil peart

Drummer from the band Rush. Known for his innovative use of unusual time signatures, steely countenance, extremely intelligent lyrics, and overall awesomeness. He is the greatest living drummer.
Neil Peart freakin rocks, I'm glad that first drummer left Rush so that, along with Mr. Peart, they could become one of the greatest bands that ever existed.

ignoranus

1. Someone who is both ignorant and an asshole.
2. George W. Bush.
Tommy is being an ignoranus. Somebody should suicide-bomb his ass before he grows up and convinces 59 million half-retarded evangelical rednecks to vote him as president, and continues to fuck the country.
