Parasites similar to mites that dwell on the head. Or inside...for they have the ability to travel to the brain and subtly take over a human's consciousness.

"Hey, dude, is that a splive on your head?"

vaporated

Very similar to being vaporized, but much more painful. The resulting particles are also smaller than the particles left behind from vaporization.

"Did you just see that!? That monster vaporated Melvin! All that's left is a cloud of dust... Man, sucks to be him."
