Tahou

City in Magnamund, the capital of Anari. Located at the centre of the country, across a broad plane, Tahou is the seat of the government and also of the Cauldron of Tahou, a mysterious passageway, normally sealed (but accessible by secret passages), leading down into the ruins of Zaaryx, an ancient, buried city from the time of Agarash.

Tahou is populated by humans, but Zaaryx is home to ghouls, and also the mysterious but ultimately good-aligned Crocaryx, as well as other monsters.

Tahou is besieged in Lone Wolf 9: The Cauldron of Terror, meaning that Lone Wolf has to battle or sneak into the city and later to defend it from attack by the united forces of the Darklords, the Drakkarim and the Vassagonian Zakhan.
The battles in Tahou include attempts to drop Giaks into the city by over-flying Kraan. However, this was anticipated after the fall of Suentina, and giant crossbows and wizards had been placed in high places in the city.

giak

Monster from the world of Magnamund (Joe Dever's Lone Wolf), similar to an orc but with grey skin. Giaks are fierce but stupid, and easily frightened unless led by stronger monsters such as Gourgaz.
A Giak has just eaten my sister. Oh dear, what a pity! She can't annoy anyone any more.

Amrod

Kalte

An icy wilderness area in the far north of the realm of Magnamund (the world of Joe Dever's Lone Wolf books). The term refers to the whole of the northern polar regions, but especially to the area nearest to Sommerlund, surrounding the city of Ljuk.

Ljuk, a Sommlending trading post, is listed in the Magnamund Companion as the capital of Kalte, although this is inaccurate. In fact, the bulk of Kalte is ruled by the Ice Barbarians, who appear to be predominantly nomadic but to have a fixed headquarters in the north of Kalte.

The realm of Kalte appears mainly in Lone Wolf 3: The Caverns of Kalte and the corresponding novel, Hunting Wolf. Lone Wolf goes to Kalte in pursuit of the rogue wizard Vonotar, and, after facing various dangers in his journey across the ice, must find his way into and through the underground fortress in the north of Kalte.
Kalte is home to a number of cold-weather monsters not found anywhere else in Magnamund.
