whilating 

When white people try to relate to people of color by making the conversation all about them. Usually done though adjacent examples that are kind of similar, but usually never quite relatable.

(pronounced Why-late-ing)

Bobby: "I hate that people are always staring at me when I am at the grocery store over on 3rd street (a predominantly white area)"
Karen: "Omg I know right, after I get my hair done, I always notice everybody staring, it makes me so uncomfortable"

Here Karen was whilating to Bobby, but she really is not able to relate to him at all in this situation since she is a white woman.
